How to Create a Vision for Your Future Self and Live Your Dream Life

Have you ever caught yourself daydreaming about the future? Not just the usual “where will I be?” but more deeply pondering, “Who will I be?”

If you’re like me, you’ve wondered about that future version of yourself—the one who’s living life fully, waking up each morning excited and energized.

In an earlier podcast episode, I explored one of my favorite topics: creating a vision for your future self.

Today, I want to bring that conversation to you in a different way.

Why?

Because there’s immense power in imagining where you want to go. Not in a restrictive, “here’s your 10-step plan” sort of way, but in a more expansive, creative way that opens up endless possibilities.

So, if you're ready to dive in and start crafting your future self, let’s get started with a few simple steps!

1. Set the Scene: Create a Comfortable Space

The first step is to find a spot where you can relax and let your mind wander without interruption. It could be a cozy corner of your home, a quiet spot outdoors, or even your favorite coffee shop. Maybe light a candle, play some calming music, or anything that sets the mood for you. Remember, creating the right environment is key to opening up your imagination.

2. Visualize Your Future: Imagine the Ideal You

Now, close your eyes and take a deep breath. Picture yourself three, five, or even ten years from now. Imagine you’ve accomplished your biggest dreams—what does your life look like? Are you living by the beach, or in a bustling city? Are you running a successful business, mastering a new skill, or embracing a new hobby? Allow yourself to dream freely, without any boundaries. This is your vision—no idea is too big or too “out there.”

3. Get Specific: Dive into the Details

This is where you get to be the director of your own life movie. What are you wearing? Who are you with? What does a typical day look like? What’s one thing you’re doing every day that truly lights you up? Imagine these moments in vivid detail. The more specific you can get, the more real your vision will feel.

4. Capture Your Vision: Write It All Down

Grab a notebook or a piece of paper and start writing. Don’t worry about grammar, spelling, or making it sound perfect—this is just for you. Think of it as a brainstorming session with your future self. Let the words flow, and don’t censor yourself. This is your creative process, and there are no wrong answers.

5. Reflect and Adjust: Fine-Tune Your Vision

Once you’ve written down your vision, take a moment to read it over. Does it feel right? Is there anything that feels out of place? More importantly, does it excite you? If something feels off, feel free to tweak it. But remember, don't let limiting beliefs sneak in and start editing your dreams. This exercise is all about expanding your horizons, not shrinking them.

6. Take Action: Start Moving Toward Your Vision

Now that you have a clear vision of your future self, it’s time to take action—no matter how small. What’s one tiny step you can take today to move closer to that vision? Maybe it’s picking up a book on a topic you’re passionate about, signing up for a class, or reaching out to someone who inspires you. Remember, every small step adds up and moves you closer to your dream life.

The Magic of Dreaming Big

I know this exercise might sound a little unconventional, but there’s real magic in allowing yourself to dream big and explore all the possibilities. Your future self is out there, cheering you on, just waiting for you to start this journey. So why not take that first step today?

Ready to start creating your future self? Let me know how it goes, or share your vision with me—I’d love to hear about the amazing things you see for yourself!

Cheers to showing up like the masterpiece you are!
