What 30 Days of Video on Instagram Taught Me About Connection and Self-Discovery

This July, I took on a personal challenge—I committed to posting a video every day on Instagram for 30 days. With the month coming to a close, the journey has been enlightening, and I wanted to share what I've learned with you.

Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone

Facing the camera every day definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone. "What will I share today?" Initially, these feelings were overwhelming, but as the month progressed, a transformation occurred. The discomfort that once seemed like a huge obstacle began to inspire me. I found myself not just dealing with uncertainty but embracing it, using it to inspire my creativity and connection.

The Unexpected Outcomes

While I noticed an increase in engagement and more meaningful interactions—the anticipated surge in followers didn't happen. At first, this was discouraging. But it prompted an important reflection: What was the true goal of this challenge? I realized that my aim was never solely about increasing numbers. It was about creating deeper connections, expressing my true self, and stepping into authenticity more fully.

The Real Victory

The true wins of this challenge were not measurable in likes or follows but in the personal growth I experienced and the conversations it sparked. Expanding my comfort zone, overcoming personal hesitations, and engaging in authentic exchanges were the real wins. This challenge was a testament to how we grow through embracing uncertainties and refining our adaptability.

Lessons on Authenticity

One of the most significant insights from this experience has been about the essence of authenticity. In a world where appearances can dominate, choosing to show up as my genuine self—imperfections and all—was liberating. It reminded me that authenticity resonates more than perfection ever could. By focusing on being present and genuine, rather than on perfect production quality, I hopefully encouraged others to embrace and share their true selves as well.

Why Keep Going?

Each video presented an opportunity to share insights, advice, or simply a reflective moment, aiming to add value and inspire. This wasn’t just about personal visibility; it was about contributing meaningfully to others, whether they're fellow entrepreneurs, curious onlookers, or anyone in between.

As I consider extending this challenge into the next month, it's clear that the decision hinges on more than just analytics. This initiative started with a desire to make a small but meaningful impact in the lives of others, and it has shown me the power of persistence and the beauty of connection.

Whether or not I continue, this has reaffirmed the importance of showing up—not just on social media, but in all aspects of life—as the authentic masterpiece that each of us is.

Here’s to more growth, more authenticity, and more connections.

Cheers to showing up like the masterpiece you are!
